I was born in Siliguri, a city in West Bengal, India. I pursued my schooling at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia till secondary, following which I completed my higher secondary from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur. With a childhood knack for Chemistry, I completed my B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry and M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from the University of Calcutta. Seeking exposure in academic research, I briefly interned at the prestigious National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune. During this time, I worked on synthesising mesoporous silica nanoparticles and their capability to sense toxic anions in water. This experience solidified my passion for research.
Following this, I joined the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, Asia’s oldest scientific institution, where I spent two and a half years as a Masters thesis student and pre-doctoral researcher . My work focused on the synthesis of plasmonic nanomaterials with biologically active functionalization for heavy metal ion sensing. Subsequently, I joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, for my graduate study (M.Tech and Ph.D). where I worked on magnetic heterostructure materials and polymer nanocomposites for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications. I was awarded M.Tech (research) & Ph.D. in July 2021.
After completing my Ph.D., I was awarded Fine Trust Postdoctoral Fellowships at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. I worked on developing organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) for bioelectronic devices using polymer-small molecule blend systems.
Currently, I am a Research Scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research, Dresden in Germany. My research primarily focuses on synthesis of MXene-based hybrid materials for tunable charge transport and sensing. These advanced materials hold significant potential in next-generation electronic and sensing applications, contributing to the broader field of functional nanomaterials and polymer composites.
Outside the academic world, I harbor a passion for photography, particularly in street and environmental portraits. I am also an avid traveler, having explored breathtaking landscapes across India, the Levant region, several European and North American cities. I try to share my experiences through my travel blog (well, not frequent at all !), capturing the essence of different cultures and places. Additionally, I am a food enthusiast and blogger, exploring diverse cuisines and delving into the cultural significance of food. Through my blogging, I aim to celebrate the art of cooking and share its depth with a wider audience.
